Laing O'Rourke

Laing O’Rourke recently moved into the new International Finance Centre to set up a family office in Building One.

Working with Ceire O’Rourke, Mark Coppins from Axis Mason, Mark Shaw from Style Office and Rob Hamilton from William Hands helped their client create an executive office in keeping with other Laing O’Rourke offices in the UK, particularly their main London office.

William Hands had previously been selected to provide furniture to the client and following on from a showroom visit, the Infinity range was selected for both the boardroom and meeting rooms.

The Infinity table collection has been specifically designed to be the most complete and fully integrated meeting, conference and boardroom table system and is hand-crafted from the finest sustainable, natural veneers and solid timbers.

American Black Walnut veneer was selected, crown cut and book matched to provide a striking finish to every table top. Black Prism bases supported the table tops and provided discreet floor to surface cable management.

Boardroom suites are often the flagship area in a modern corporate environment; requiring easy access to IT and supporting services while catering for a large number of demanding users. For Laing O’Rourke the Infinity table range was specifically designed to cater for their needs with a central black glass inlay section integrated into the table tops which also housed power and data modules accessed via the hinged black glass access flap. This ensured the teams could engage effectively and efficiently within the boardroom suite.

Within the executive offices, the Emphasis desking and storage range with its linear forms, clean lines and finest material combination of Black Walnut and Black glass effectively complements the boardroom furniture.

Special attention was given to cable management with a discreet cable channel in the desk top that allows the computer monitor to be positioned either side of the desk whilst keeping the cables hidden from view.

Matching credenzas were also supplied in Walnut veneer with Black shadow gaps to suite in with the rest of the furniture.

A bespoke reception counter was also designed and supplied by William Hands, again finished using Black Walnut veneer and Black glass along with reception chairs in soft tan leather with walnut highlights.

The William Hands high backed Orion chairs were chosen throughout the office all finished in cashmere leather with a dark brown stitch detail.

The executive office also had Florence Knoll black marble coffee tables with a Libra sofa and two Libra chairs all supplied with feather down cushions for extra comfort.

Finally a small client round table was supplied for Ceire’s Office with a striking radial Black Walnut veneer, partnered with four low backed Orion chairs.
