Style Shopfitting complete fitout of HSBC premises
In January of this year Style Shopfitting Co. (Guernsey) Ltd commenced the complete fitout of HSBC Private Bank in Park Place, Guernsey. The bank required new premises where they could consolidate their various teams into one building while providing a comfortable and high-quality working environment for all staff. Following a tendering process, HSBC formed a design team with A&Q Partnership (architects), Style Shopfitting Co. (Guernsey) Ltd and Colin S. Smith & Partners (surveyors) and a brief was formed for the fitout of their new premises.
Wayne Martin, Senior Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager, Style Shopfitting Co. (Guernsey) Ltd, commented: “We were extremely pleased when we found out we had won this contract. We have over 30 years of experience of shopfitting in the Channel Islands but this was to be the biggest project we had undertaken in Guernsey to date. The scale of the refurbishment provided us with an opportunity to showcase the exceptional skills of our tradesmen.”
HSBC Private Bank briefed all parties involved in the fit out with the key objectives to be achieved through the refurbishment. They felt it essential to optimise communication between staff and the various teams within the business while ensuring that the space felt light and spacious. They required a mix of cellular offices and open plan areas in addition to meeting room provision on each floor. The building also required a communications room and client areas including a boardroom and reception area.
As a number of the cellular offices were to be positioned on the perimeter of the floors, it was important to ensure natural light was introduced to the central open plan space. On considering this problem, Style Shopfitting Co. (Guernsey) Ltd proposed Avanti Solare frameless glass partitioning, an innovative solution never used before in Guernsey. A fully glazed dry jointed partitioning system with rigid translucent jointing channels provided a seamless aspect unbroken by intrusive mullions thereby maximising light. Manifestations can also be added to the panels to provide privacy without impeding light. The system is also future proofed against possible churn as it can be completely relocated with minimum effort due to the dry joint system.
Jerry Phillips, marketing manager of Avanti Systems, said:
“We were extremely pleased that Style Shopfitting proposed the Solare system for this project and we enjoyed working with them to achieve a satisfactory installation."
As with all fitouts carried out by Style Shopfitting Co. (Guernsey) Ltd, the work also included high quality joinery finishes where the use of walnut has provided a contemporary look in the wall panels in the boardroom and at the welcome desk in reception. Work to ceilings, floor finishes and general decoration were also carried out to the highest standards.
In addition Style Office, sister company to Style Shopfitting Co. (Guernsey) Ltd subsequently won the furniture order for the bespoke executive areas, boardrooms, client meeting rooms, mobile storage system and task seating.
