Local Trainee Site Manager scoops prestigious accolade

Damien Noble, Trainee Site Manager at AC Mauger Construction, has scooped the Jersey Construction Council Award for Outstanding Achievement in Construction Studies.

The award will be presented to Mr Noble at the College’s prize giving on Monday 10th November.

Mr Noble who this year completed his BTEC National Certificate in Construction, also holds a BSc Science. But the ambitious youngster is not stopping there – he is hoping to enrol on the BSc (Hons) Construction Management course next year.

David Cobbett, Managing Director, AC Mauger Construction, commented:
‘I am delighted for Damien, he is a fantastic employee and a model student and has excelled all expectations we had of him. He is a professional worker who, at all times, undertakes his tasks with care and diligence. His request to carry on studying vocational qualifications only highlights his enthusiasm and commitment to his role.’

Soon after joining AC Mauger in 2003, the company recognised Mr Noble’s ability and he very quickly progressed from the role of Labourer to Assistant Site Foreman in 2007 - a position that the company created especially for Mr Noble in recognition of his increasing responsibility on site. Mr Noble has now progressed to the role of Trainee Site Manager.

Tony Bechelet, Curriculum Manager for Construction Studies, Highlands College, added:
‘I recommended Damien for this award as I know that he is an outstanding student. He achieved the National Certificate in Construction with two merits and ten distinction grades. His attendance was excellent. Damien is a real credit to AC Mauger and I wish him every success for the future and am confident that he will make a great Site Manager when his training is complete.’
