Time capsule buried

John Refault, the Connetable of St Peter, and Andy Fleet, Chief Executive from Style Group were joined by pupils from Bel Royal Primary School to bury a time capsule at Lakeside Manor care home.

The time capsule, which will be buried for 50 years, contains jersey coins, stamps, a copy of the JEP and images of Lakeside care home under construction amongst other items. Students from Bel Royal Primary School and Lakeside residents made the final decision on contents of the time capsule.

Gina Lim, Village Manager at the Barchester run home, said: “I’m pleased that younger generations of Islanders have got involved as residents do like to see them taking part in activities in and around the home. This is a momentous occasion and when it’s time to dig up the capsule 50 years from now, Lakeside Village will be a long-established part of the community.”

Opening in April, Lakeside Manor will provide more high quality residential and nursing services and well as introducing dedicated dementia care to support those living with dementia. The new 60-bed care home alongside the existing Lakeside care home and The Pavilions – eight luxury two-bedroom independent living apartments – will be know as Lakeside Village.
